Hi! I’m Stavros, a Wind Energy Engineer.

I was born in Athens and raised in Karistos, Evia, Greece, and like little Ellie, I always dreamed that the North wind (Boreas) would take me somewhere to another country. And once I really ended up in another country – in Denmark, studying and working at the Technical University of Denmark and Risø DTU, the National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy.
Motivated by this newfound interest, I decided to delve deeper into the world of wind energy. I enrolled in advanced courses related to renewable energy and environmental science, seeking to understand the science behind wind power, its environmental impact, and the technological advancements in the field. The more I learned, the more convinced I became that wind energy held the key to a greener and more sustainable future.
Eager to apply my knowledge in a practical setting, I sought opportunities to work on wind energy projects, both onshore and offshore. Exceptional research opportunities allowed me to work alongside professionals in the field, gaining insights into the complexities of wind turbine design, installation, and maintenance. This firsthand experience deepened my understanding of the challenges and rewards associated with harnessing the power of the wind.
In this journey, I have witnessed the transformative power of wind—both as a natural force and as a symbol of sustainable progress. Despite the promising benefits of wind energy development, challenges such as visual and noise impacts, wildlife concerns, and occasional local opposition underscore the need for a balanced and comprehensive approach to its implementation.
During my involvement in the wind energy sector, I discovered a lot of data secrecy and issues or challenges with no direct solution or answer. I have also witnessed firsthand the challenges and opportunities that arise when navigating the delicate balance between revealing facts and safeguarding sensitive information.
Being somewhere in wind energy engineering science, transparency, and ethical research, I realized that I had enough experience and knowledge to share with others – and so this blog appeared. Here you will find useful tips, my experiences, and the positives and challenges that can foster a professional discourse within the intricacies of wind energy engineering.
